A PS5 that powers on and shows nothing on the TV usually has a hardware fault you can see with a flashlight. PS5 HDMI port repair is the fix when the connector is bent, loose or broken. The console itself is usually fine, and a new port brings it back with your games and saves still on it.
We replace PS5 HDMI ports for $149.99 at 1927 W Chicago Ave in West Town and by mail from anywhere in the US. Most take 1 to 2 business days once the console is on the bench. You get a test result and a price before we start.
Why PS5 HDMI ports break
The port is soldered to the main board at its edge, and a thick cable makes a good lever. The usual story goes like this: the console gets pulled off a shelf, moved while plugged in, or knocked by a kid or a dog, and the cable twists in the port. The metal shell lifts or the pins bend. The picture might still work if you hold the cable just so, and then it stops.
Plugging the cable in and out many times wears it too. So does a stiff cable with a heavy right-angle adapter hanging off it.
What a broken port looks like
The PS5 turns on and the light looks normal, but your TV says no signal. Sometimes the picture only works when you hold the cable at an angle. Shine a flashlight into the port and you might see bent pins, a tilted connector or a bit of metal sitting in the wrong place. Compare it to a TV port if you aren't sure what straight pins look like.
Try this first
Rule out the cheap fixes before you pay for a repair. A PS5 no signal message has plenty of causes that have nothing to do with the port.
- Try another HDMI cable. Use the one that came with your PS5 if you have it.
- Check the TV input. Switch inputs, then try another HDMI port on the TV.
- Try another screen. A different TV or monitor rules out the TV.
- Boot into Safe Mode. Power off, then hold the power button until you hear a second beep. Connect a controller with a USB cable and press the PS button. Choose Change Video Output, then try a lower resolution.
If none of that works, stop plugging and unplugging the cable. Each attempt can make the damage worse. Our PS5 no signal guide covers these checks in more detail.
Is it the port or the chip?
The port is the metal connector you plug into. Behind it sits a small chip that drives the video signal out to the port. Here's how they differ in practice:
- Bent pins, a loose or tilted port, or a picture that depends on the cable angle. That's the port.
- A clean, tight port and still no picture on any screen. That points to the chip, or to something else on the board.
- Sparkles, a purple tint or a picture stuck at low resolution. It might be either, and the bench test decides.
A surge from a storm or a bad power strip can take out the chip. So can a previous repair done with too much heat. We test the console before we start, so you know which one you're paying for.
What PS5 HDMI port repair costs
The port replacement is $149.99. That's the figure for a normal port job on any PS5 model. Three things can change it:
- A damaged HDMI chip. It takes more work and a different part, so we quote it separately after testing.
- A previous failed repair. Lifted pads or leftover solder mean extra board work before a new port can go on.
- Liquid or a second fault. If the console also has corrosion or a power problem, we tell you before going further.
You approve any change before we do the work. If we find that the repair doesn't make sense, you can take the console back as it is.
Which models we take
We repair the PS5 Disc, PS5 Digital, PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro. Tell us which one you have when you get in touch. The job is similar across all of them, but the boards aren't identical, so the model helps us have the right port ready.
Parts carry our 90-day warranty, and labor may apply. If you need PS5 repair in Chicago for something other than the port, like overheating or a drive fault, see game console repair.
Mailing it in
- Start a mail-in repair. Tell us your console and what it is doing.
- Pack it well. Use a sturdy box with plenty of padding, and leave out games and accessories.
- Ship it to us. We will send you the address and the steps.
- We repair and return it. We test the picture, then send it back to you.
PS5 HDMI port replacement is also a good reason to stop the problem repeating. Once it's back, give the cable some slack, don't stand the console where it can be knocked, and leave the cable plugged in rather than swapping it between consoles. Have a question first? Call (773) 741-6682. For board faults beyond the port, see micro soldering and board repair.

Needed my laptop keyboard replaced, but I couldn’t be without my laptop for a few days. I bought the replacement keyboard on Amazon and found him through Yelp. After watching a YouTube video, I quickly realized it was more complicated than I wanted to tackle myself! He replaced the keyboard within a couple of hours, and I picked it up the same day. Straightforward, fast, and clearly knows what he’s doing. Highly recommend!

What do people ask us?
What do I do if my PS5 HDMI is broken?
First rule out the easy stuff: try another cable, another TV input and Safe Mode. If you still have no picture, or the port is loose or has bent pins, the port likely needs replacing. Stop plugging the cable in and out, because that can make the damage worse. Then bring it in or mail it to us.
How much does it cost to get the HDMI port fixed on a PS5?
Our PS5 HDMI port replacement is $149.99. If the fault turns out to be the HDMI chip or something else on the board, the price can be different. We test the console first and give you the price before we do any work, so you can decide.
Can GameStop fix a broken HDMI port?
Check with the store directly, because services change. An HDMI port repair needs soldering on the main board, so look for a shop that does board-level work. We do this repair in house at our Chicago shop, and we take consoles by mail from anywhere in the US.
Does it matter which HDMI port I use for PS5?
The PS5 has one HDMI port, but your TV has several, and they aren't always equal. For 4K at 120Hz, use a TV port that supports HDMI 2.1, along with the cable that came with your PS5. If one TV input fails and another works, the PS5 port may be fine.
Will Sony fix a broken PS5 HDMI port?
Sony's repair service will look at it, but a bent or broken port usually counts as physical damage, which the limited warranty doesn't cover. A paid repair from Sony can also mean a replacement console. If your PS5 is under a year old with no visible damage, try Sony first. Otherwise a port repair here is often simpler.
Will I lose my games and saves?
No, a port replacement doesn't touch the internal storage, so your games and saves should still be there. Still, Nova Fix isn't responsible for data loss during repair, so turn on cloud saves or copy them to a USB drive first if you can. You won't need to give us your PlayStation account details.
