Pixels have a quirk worth knowing before you book. The fingerprint sensor sits under the display, and it's calibrated to that exact panel. Replace the screen without the right software step and the sensor stops working. Google Pixel screen repair at our Chicago Ave shop includes that step. It's the main reason this job shouldn't go to anyone who treats a Pixel like any other Android phone.

We repair Pixel 6 to 9 at our West Town shop, and most models are done the same day when the part is here. Call (773) 741-6682 for a price on your Pixel. You won't need to ship your phone anywhere, and you'll get a real number before we start.

What we repair on Pixels

  • Screens. Cracks, black patches, lines and dead touch. A Pixel 8 screen replacement follows the same process as the rest of the range.
  • Batteries. Fast drain, random shutdowns and swelling.
  • Charging ports. Loose cables, slow charging and ports that won't connect. See why a phone won't charge.
  • Camera glass. The bar across the back takes the first hit, and the glass can be replaced on its own when the camera beneath is fine.
  • Water damage. Turn the phone off and don't charge it.

Tell us the exact phone. A Pixel 8 and a Pixel 8 Pro use different panels, and A series phones are different again. If you aren't sure, look in Settings, About phone.

How we price a Pixel

We quote by exact model, because the parts differ between a standard phone and a Pro. Prices read Call for price because panel costs move, and we would rather give you today's number than a stale one. Once you have the number, nothing changes unless you agree to it. Repairs include our 90-day parts warranty, and labor may apply.

Fingerprint calibration

Pixels read your fingerprint through the display, so a new screen has to be matched to the phone with a calibration step, and you'll set up your fingerprints again. Have your passcode ready when you come in, because we need it to finish and test this step.

Screen protectors matter here too. A thick protector can stop the sensor reading you properly, so if yours gets flaky after a repair, try removing the protector first.

Pixel battery replacement: is it time?

Pixels have a battery health page on newer versions of Android, under Settings, Battery. On models without it, go by how the phone behaves. If it can't make it through a normal day after a year or two of use, or it shuts off at 15% or 20%, the battery is worn.

Before you pay anyone, check Google's support pages for your model. Google has run battery programs for some A series phones, including free or discounted fixes for swelling and overheating, and you may qualify. If the back of your phone is lifting or the screen is bulging, stop charging it and bring it in.

Is your Pixel worth fixing?

Software support is the deciding factor, and Google has been generous here. Pixel 8 and later are promised seven years of updates, so Google Pixel screen repair on a cracked 8 or 9 is an easy call. The Pixel 6 and 7 have shorter windows, and it's worth checking how long yours has left before you spend much on it.

If your phone has run out of updates, a cheap battery can still make sense for a backup phone. A new screen on top of a tired battery usually doesn't. We will tell you what we'd do.

Protecting your data

Most repairs don't touch your data, but back up with Google One or Google Photos first if the phone still works. Recent Pixels also have a Repair mode, found under Settings, then System. It keeps your data private while someone else tests the phone, and it's a good habit before handing a phone to any shop.

When Google is the better call

If your Pixel is under Google's warranty or Preferred Care, start with Google. If a Pixel has a known fault that Google is covering for free, that beats any quote we can give. If you are out of coverage, or you want it back today, we are a walk-in shop on Chicago Ave, and you don't need to mail your phone anywhere.

Needed my laptop keyboard replaced, but I couldn’t be without my laptop for a few days. I bought the replacement keyboard on Amazon and found him through Yelp. After watching a YouTube video, I quickly realized it was more complicated than I wanted to tackle myself! He replaced the keyboard within a couple of hours, and I picked it up the same day. Straightforward, fast, and clearly knows what he’s doing. Highly recommend!

Came in with a iPhone SE 2016 with 64% battery health. Was told at another store that they wouldn’t be able to help. At Nova Fix Alex fixed it for me in under an hour for $60! Super worth it, fast and efficient!! Thank you!

What do people ask us?

How much does a Pixel screen replacement cost?

Pixel prices change with the model and with part supply, so call us for a current price on your phone. You can also send a quote request with your model and a photo. Either way, you get the price before any work starts. Pro models cost more than the standard phone, and A series phones usually cost less.

Will my fingerprint sensor work after a screen replacement?

It should, but it needs a step most people do not expect. Pixel fingerprint sensors sit under the display, so a new screen has to be calibrated, and then you register your fingerprints again. We handle the setup at the shop and test it with you before you leave.

Do you repair Pixel batteries too?

Yes. We replace batteries on Pixel 6 to 9, and the job is done the same day for most models. Signs you need one include fast drain, sudden shutdowns or a phone that gets warm while idle. A swollen battery needs attention right away, so stop using it and bring it in.

Do you repair the Pixel 10?

Call first and we will check. We list the Pixel 6 to 9, and newer models depend on whether we can get a good part yet. If your Pixel is still under Google's warranty or Preferred Care, start there, since a covered repair is hard to beat. Otherwise we will give you a straight answer.

Is there a warranty on Pixel repairs?

Yes. Parts carry our 90-day warranty, and labor may apply. If you have water damage, the warranty on that repair is 30 days. Keep your receipt and bring the phone back to the shop on Chicago Ave if something does not seem right, and we will look at it.
