The price of an iPhone repair should not be a surprise, so ours are on this page, by model, before you leave the house. Nova Fix is an independent iPhone repair shop in West Town, at 1927 W Chicago Ave. Walk in during open hours and you will usually leave with the phone fixed, or at least knowing exactly what is wrong with it. Every iPhone repair ends with a test of the part we touched, with you, before you leave.

Screens start at $89.99 and batteries at $49.99. Our listed models run from the iPhone X to the iPhone 14, and we also repair the iPhone 15, 16, 17, 18 and Duo. Those newer phones read Call for price while we confirm part costs.

What's wrong with your iPhone?

Symptoms overlap, and that is how people end up paying for the wrong part. Here is how the common ones sort out.

What you see What it usually is Repair
Glass cracked, picture normal Top glass only, for now Screen repair, from $89.99
Black screen, phone still rings Display failed Screen repair
Green lines, dead touch zones OLED or touch layer Screen repair
Drains by mid-afternoon Worn battery Battery replacement, from $49.99
Shuts off at 20% Worn battery Battery replacement
Screen lifting at the edge Swollen battery, stop charging Battery replacement
Cable loose or won't charge Lint in the port, or a worn port Charging port, from $89.99
Rear glass broken Back glass Back glass repair, from $99.99
Blurry photos, rattling camera Lens glass or camera module Camera repair, from $49.99
Callers can't hear you Microphone, or a speaker clogged with dirt Speaker repair, from $59.99
Stuck button Side button flex Button repair, from $89.99
Dead after a drop or spill Battery, port or board Board repair or water damage

Try the free things first. Force restart the phone, clean the port gently with a wooden toothpick, and try a different cable. A fair number of "broken" phones are one of those three.

Which screen option should you pick?

For many iPhones we list two options, Screen and OLED or LCD, and the difference is worth understanding.

Screen is our standard replacement and the lower price. You get a new working display with full touch, and it suits an older phone or a tight budget. Next to a factory panel, you may see small differences in brightness and color.

OLED or LCD is the step up. It uses a panel of the same type your iPhone shipped with: OLED on the iPhone X, XS, 11 Pro and the 12 and later, LCD on the XR, 11 and SE. Color, brightness and contrast sit closer to the original, which matters more on a phone you plan to keep. The iPhone screen repair page goes further, including what happens to Face ID and True Tone.

Neither option goes through Apple's own calibration process, so a parts notice can appear in Settings either way. If you need a factory part installed and verified by Apple, Apple is the place to go.

Which iPhones do we repair?

We list prices for the iPhone X, XR and XS, the SE, and the 11, 12, 13 and 14 families. Find your phone in the tables on this page. Any row marked Call for price is a model we still work on. We just need to confirm today's part cost.

The iPhone 15 and later use USB-C rather than Lightning, and the iPhone 14 and later (except the 14 Pro models) use a design where the back glass comes off on its own. Both changes make some repairs simpler than they used to be. iPhone Duo has an outer screen and a folding inner screen, so tell us which one failed.

Every listed price is also on our pricing page, sorted by model.

Is your iPhone worth fixing?

A repair usually makes sense if the phone still gets iOS updates and the job costs a fraction of what you would pay for a replacement. Add up everything it needs, though. An iPhone with a cracked screen, a tired battery and a dented corner can cost more to bring back than a good used phone.

Skip the repair if you were about to upgrade anyway and the damage won't affect trade-in much, or if the phone no longer gets security updates. We say so when that's the case.

When Apple is the better call

Sometimes you should go to Apple. If your iPhone has AppleCare, a covered repair is likely cheaper than ours. If your Face ID has failed, Apple can replace paired parts that an independent shop can't restore. If you want factory parts installed and verified, that's an Apple job too. Check Apple's repair prices and compare them with ours.

We make more sense when you want iPhone repair in Chicago done today, when your phone is out of coverage, or when the fault is on the board. Apple's usual answer to a board fault is a replacement. We do micro soldering in house, so a dead phone can often come back with your data still on it.

Needed my laptop keyboard replaced, but I couldn’t be without my laptop for a few days. I bought the replacement keyboard on Amazon and found him through Yelp. After watching a YouTube video, I quickly realized it was more complicated than I wanted to tackle myself! He replaced the keyboard within a couple of hours, and I picked it up the same day. Straightforward, fast, and clearly knows what he’s doing. Highly recommend!

Came in with a iPhone SE 2016 with 64% battery health. Was told at another store that they wouldn’t be able to help. At Nova Fix Alex fixed it for me in under an hour for $60! Super worth it, fast and efficient!! Thank you!

What do people ask us?

How long does an iPhone repair take?

Most iPhone screens take about 30 minutes, and most other repairs are finished the same day. Back glass takes a few hours. Board-level faults and water damage can take a few days, because we need to find the cause first. Call before you come and we can tell you what to expect for your model.

Will my iPhone show an unknown part message?

It can, on iPhone 11 and later for screens and iPhone XR and later for batteries. You will see a notice after the first unlock and again five days later, and the entry stays under Parts and Service History in Settings. The phone keeps working, though Apple says it can affect trade-in value.

Will a repair here void my Apple warranty?

An independent repair doesn't automatically end Apple's coverage, but Apple can refuse to fix damage caused by a non-Apple repair, and our work isn't covered by AppleCare. If your iPhone is still under warranty or AppleCare, take it to Apple first. Once coverage ends, you have nothing to lose there, and our parts carry 90 days.

Do you fix iPhones that won't turn on?

Often, yes. A phone that won't turn on can have a dead battery, a bad charging port or a fault on the logic board. Try a force restart and an hour on a known good charger first. If that does nothing, bring it in. We do board-level micro soldering in house and give you the price before we start.

Do you repair iPhone 17, iPhone 18 and iPhone Duo?

Yes, and those models read Call for price because part costs on the newest phones move fast. If the phone is that new, check whether it is covered first, since Apple's warranty or AppleCare will usually be the better deal. Otherwise call with your model and we will confirm the price and the part.

What should I do before bringing my iPhone in?

Back it up to iCloud or a computer if it still turns on. Remove your case, take out your SIM if you use one, and have your passcode handy so we can test the repair. You don't need to sign out of your Apple account for most repairs. We will tell you if yours is an exception.
