iPhone Screen Repair in Chicago

A cracked iPhone screen rarely stays the same size, and the phone underneath it is usually fine. That makes iPhone screen repair the simplest big job we do. If you walk in, plan on a short wait while we test the phone and quote it, then about half an hour at the bench. Grab a coffee on Chicago Ave and come back. Is it the glass or the display?

Your iPhone screen has layers. The glass on top is what cracks. The display underneath shows the picture and reads your touch.

If the picture looks normal and only the glass is cracked, the display may still be fine for now. If you see black patches, colored lines or dead touch areas, the display has failed too. On a modern iPhone the two are bonded into one part, so iPhone screen replacement covers both either way. Your choice is about which replacement part you want.

Screen or OLED or LCD: which option should you pick?

Most models list two options.

Screen is the standard replacement and the lower price. It gives you a new, fully working display. Next to a factory panel, brightness, contrast and color can look slightly different, and you may notice it most on a phone that shipped with OLED. It is a sensible choice for an older phone, a phone you plan to sell, or a tight budget.

OLED or LCD is the step up, a panel of the same type your phone shipped with. The iPhone XR, 11 and SE use LCD. The iPhone X, XS, 11 Pro and all 12 and later models use OLED. It comes closer to the original look, with truer blacks on OLED models, and it costs more. Choose it for a phone you will keep for a few years, or if you watch a lot of video.

Some models list only one option, and that is the one we can get reliably. Tell us how long you plan to keep the phone, and we will help you decide. Both options carry the same 90-day parts warranty.

What it costs

The table on this page lists our price for each model. As a guide, an iPhone 11 screen is $110, and an iPhone 14 OLED replacement is $140. Apple publishes its own out-of-warranty screen prices on its iPhone repair page. Compare them with ours for your model. Apple's fee covers a factory part installed by Apple, so it isn't quite the same thing, but you should see both numbers.

What happens to Face ID, True Tone and the parts notice?

These answers depend on your phone, so read the one that applies.

Face ID. The sensors sit at the top of the phone and are paired to its board, so they stay with your phone during the swap. An iPhone screen repair done carefully doesn't affect Face ID. A hard drop can, which is why we test it before we start. If Face ID is already dead, a new screen won't fix it, and Apple is the only place that can replace paired parts.

True Tone. It adjusts color to the light in the room, and it relies on data stored in your original screen. On many models we can carry that data over to the new one, as long as the old screen can still be read. If yours can't be, the phone works normally and the True Tone switch goes missing. We tell you which applies before we start.

The parts notice. On iPhone 11 and later, an independent screen shows as Unknown under Settings, General, About, Parts and Service History. You see a notification when you first unlock the phone and again five days later. The phone keeps working normally. Apple says an unknown part can affect trade-in value, so mention it if you plan to trade the phone in soon.

Water resistance. We reseal the phone, but no repair can promise factory water resistance afterward. Treat your phone as splash-safe at best from here on.

What to do before you come

Back up your iPhone if you can, because Nova Fix isn't responsible for data loss during repair. Remove your case and have your passcode ready so we can test the repair. If the screen is too damaged to use, we can still work on it. Read our warranty and policies for the details.

When it isn't worth it

For most people, an iPhone screen repair is the right call. It costs far less than a new phone, and your apps and photos stay where they are. It may not be worth it if the phone has several other faults, or if it is under AppleCare, where Apple's service fee may be lower than our price. We will tell you if that is the case.
