What moves the price

The panel. The iPhone 15 uses an OLED display with the Dynamic Island cut into it. It's a newer part than the one on a 13 or 14, and newer parts cost more until supply catches up.

Is it the screen or something else?

• Black screen, but it rings. The display failed, and the phone is fine.
• Lines or a green tint. The OLED took damage. This usually won't improve, so back up now.
• Touch is erratic but the picture is good. It may be the panel, or a loose connector from the drop.
• Nothing happens at all. Force restart first: press volume up, volume down, then hold the side button. If there's still no sign of life, it could be the battery or the board.

What the USB-C phones changed

The iPhone 15 was the first iPhone with USB-C, and it was the year the whole lineup gained the Dynamic Island. Neither one changes how the screen comes off. What's different is the frame shape and the way the back glass can come off on its own, which makes the phone easier to work on in general.
